Lime, the company dedicated to making health insurance affordable for everyone, is delighted to announce a partnership with Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. Lime will work with Jo’s Trust to raise awareness of cervical cancer as well as donating 10% of every premium paid to the charity to help fund its fight against cervical cancer.
The majority of cervical cancers (99.7%) are caused by the human papillomavirus virus (HPV) which will affect four out of five people. Through screening for the virus, cervical cancer can often be prevented and each year 220,000 UK women are diagnosed with cervical cell changes. 3,200 are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and 890 lose their lives.
Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the leading cervical cancer charity in the UK, providing information and support, as well as campaigning for excellence in treatment and prevention.
Shaun Williams, CEO of Lime, said: “We’re so pleased to be partnering with Jo’s, as they are doing such a fantastic job and we share a key focus, reducing the incidence of cervical cancer until it is completely eliminated. At Lime, we can help with raising the issue of cervical cancer and we hope that by providing access for many millions of people to affordable cancer cover, they can get the additional support and reassurance which insurance can provide when they need it most.”
Rebecca Shoosmith, Head of Support Services and Deputy Chief Executive at Jo’s commented: “Around 49,000 women are living with and beyond cervical cancer in the UK, with an additional nine given a life-changing diagnosis each year. We want every woman diagnosed to be able to get the support that they need for as long as they need. The physical, psychological and financial consequences of cervical cancer can be devastating and we’re really grateful to Lime who will help us to be there for more women at a time when they need us the most..”
For many years, healthcare insurance has been bundled together to provide a product which insurance companies want to sell, but is far too expensive for most people. The approach of companies like Lime is to use the latest technology to break healthcare insurance into individual parts which people not only want, but can also afford.
Lime International Limited (Lime) was launched on the 26th February 2019 and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Lime’s new cancer cover product will be available to customers from £2.03p per month.
